Having
already received a modicum of international success, Carl
Henry is back in 2007 with two singles She Loves Me &
Why Did You Leave Me To Cry (a Leroy Sibbles/Heptones cover)
taken from his forthcoming reggae full length Roots &
Rhythm, due out in 2008.
To
date the versatile Canadian artist has followed quite a unique
career path, beginning with his two R&B Billboard charted
singles Crazy Love” & I’m Thinkin’ in
2001. He’s certainly blazed a trail of his own virtual
musical cornucopia and has been as putting “the riddim
in rhythm & blues………………..
blending the rumble of dancehall reggae with the smooth styling
of R&B and soul”.
Following
the release of his debut album RNB (which was also released
in French Canada Solutions RNB) in 2002, the Jamaican born
Henry went back to his “roots” and recorded the
single Homie’s Girl for Big Yard’s Juicy Riddim
compilation. The success of the song (Top 25 CHR in Canada),
propelled Carl onto one of the most successful dancehall Riddims
of all time, Coolie Dance! The song Bare As She Dare, which
he recorded with dancehall queen Cecile for the “riddim”,
received massive international acclaim and licensing deals
were consummated in over 25 territories including Universal
Music (Germany), Sony (Australia), Warner Music (South Africa),
Happy Music (France), Blanco y Negro (Spain), Energy (Italy)
& Incentive Recordings (UK).
Needless
to say Carl’s sophomore album I Wish was a pot-pourri
of the styles he had become known for dancehall, reggae &
r&b, meshed together seamlessly as only he can with some
hip hop elements added. The album spawned hits such as Perfect
feat. JR Writer (which is featured in the forthcoming feature
film How She Move) along with the album titled epic I Wish
and Little Mama, produced by Red One (Shakira, Kat deLuna),
both Top 20 CHR hits in Canada.
In
2008 Carl Henry who has worked & toured with some of reggae
dancehall finest including Buju Banton, Sean Paul, Beenie
Man, Elephant Man, TOK, Mr. Doo, CeCile, Leftside & Esco
and Macka Diamond is set to release his Roots & Rhythm
set on the CeSoul Music imprint.
This
full on roots tinged reggae album, showcases Carl’s
amazing vocals to its fullest. He’s backed by the Firehouse
Crew (Sizzla), with vocal arrangements by the legendary Dean
Fraser.
Roots
& Rhythm is destined to be a timeless reggae release from
the former gospel singer, songwriter and 4X consecutive Juno
Awards nominee (Canada’s Grammy’s) who’s
back to conquer more worldwide acclaim!
Look
out……………….. Carl Henry
is on his way
