The Souljah Phonics Sound System was founded & established by Fadda B in 1998. Fadda B, Mirage and Mr. Brown were the original members of the sound. They started off their road to success playing at local basement parties and school dances. The sound was known as a "reggae sound", playing the best in dancehall and lovers. As their hidden talents became more noticeable, more opportunity came along.

Soon enough, the young sound became the talk of the town in the east end of Toronto, with Fadda B on the 1's & 2’s during the reggae sets, mirage on the tables spinning hip hop, and Mr brown on the mic controlling the crowd. In early 2002 the phonics were selected to be resident Dj’s at various nightclubs (most popular being D2) where they were always known for "flattening the dance".

By that time, four new members were added to the trio: Iconn, Gear, King Blaze, and Dreddy. These two knotty’s came up on the scene with a musical vengeance. Iconn doing his thing tearing up the hip hop alongside Mirage, and Dreddy bringing even more west Indian flavour with the aid of soca music. Gear and king blaze were totally new to the entertainment scene and sound system lifestyle. Gear is now a strong factor to sp, specializing in dance hall and dirty south. King blaze is also a strong factor to sp blessing up the dance every time with Fadda B.

It has come a point now where Souljah Phonics is playing 2 or 3 dances in one night, and what so flexible about this young group of young males, is that there versatile at playing different genres of music. When Fadda B is not around king blaze or Dreddy will take over mic while the others are playing whatever is necessary to keep crowd pumping. When Dreddy is not available Fadda B and mirage will take over the soca side of things. The cycle goes on and on.

Known as "number 1 peoples sound", the phonics only brings good vibes to whatever event they’re involved in. seeing and hearing them in action is a MUST!
